About Us
The AZEK Company was originally founded in 1983 as Compression Polymers Group and began as a family-owned and operated business on Corey Street in Scranton, PA. The Company’s early operations focused on manufacturing plastic sheet material using compression-molding technology. In 1987, the Company upgraded its compression-molding capabilities with a proprietary extrusion technology capable of creating thick-gauge plastic sheet. Also in 1987, the Company embarked in a joint venture with Vista Chemical and formed Vycom Corporation and began extruding thick-gauge PVC sheet. Since 1992, there have been several different investors in the organization such as, Crane Plastics, Whitney & Clearview, AEA Investors and Ares Management/Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. In partnership with our investors, AZEK has grown both organically, as well as, through acquisition. Some of the various companies who have joined the AZEK family through the years are: Santana, Procell Decking, Composatron, VAST and TimberTech.
Today, while AZEK still manufactures product using the original compression molding method, we now also produce product using a wide variety of synthetic materials and manufacturing processes such as, extrusion, injection molding and clam shell molding.
